Hey,
I’ve decided to switch to a free-and-paid model for my software.
Everything that’s been free up to now stays free. Anything new comes in two versions: a free one that does everything it should, and a paid one with extra features and conveniences.
The paid versions run on the honor system, for two reasons.
First, I’d probably be nowhere professionally without the stacks of pirated CDs full of cracked plugins, DAWs and sample libraries that got me exploring, experimenting and making things back in the early 2000s. Without that access, I simply never would have started.
Second, copy protection gets cracked in an evening, for fun, and it mostly gets in the way of people who actually paid. Everybody else just goes to their favorite site and downloads a ready-to-run version.
So if you bought the paid version – thank you.
And if you got it somewhere else, there’s no lock on the door, and you know the price is still the price. Go make something worthwhile with it.
